Rhode Island Casinos

Author: Adel Awwad

Rhode Island is a coastal state that is home to two major casinos. Rhode Island casinos are known for their video lottery terminal or VLT's that are very popular with casino guests. The two casinos, Lincoln Park and Newport Grand are both open to gamblers over the age of 18. Rhode Island casinos offer a great get away for vacation or a weekend of fun.

Rhode Island became the 13th state on May 29, 1790. The capital city is Providence and the state covers 1045 square miles of land with 500 square miles of water. It is nicknamed The Ocean State and has a population of 1,048,319 as of December of 2000. Rhode Island is known for being the smallest state in the United States.

Rhode Island casinos offer a choice between Newport Grand and Lincoln Park. Both facilities offer video lottery terminals that are regulated by the state's lottery commission. These lottery terminals offer a choice of at least six games, including blackjack, keno, slots and poker. Besides this common link, both casinos offer different attractions and features.

The Newport Grand casino is located at 150 Admiral Kalbfus Road in Newport. The Newport Grand features one restaurant and daily-televised access to horse racing, dog racing and jai-alai. Admission to the casino is free; however, there is a $1.50 valet charge. The Newport Grand operates everyday from 10 am to 1 am. Newport Grand has been in the news regarding an expansion project that would add an expansion to their slot machine area. This expansion would also add an 86-room hotel to the casino.

The Lincoln Park casino is located at 1600 Louisquisset Pike in Lincoln. It is only 10 miles north of Providence. The casino has three restaurants for guests' dining pleasure. Admission and valet parking are free of charge. Special events include live dog racing and simulcasting of horse and dog racing. Lincoln Park is open everyday from 9 am to 1 am. Lincoln Park has also undergone a major renovation to add more dining, gambling and entertainment space.

Rhode Island casinos offer great gambling combined with special racing events. The Newport Grand and Lincoln Park casinos offer environments that grow and change with the demands and needs of their guests. Rhode Island casinos offer both class and quality to guests that are seeking an exceptional gaming experience.
